This website is dedicated to the life’s work of Alan Roland, Ph.D. (born 1930- died 2023), a psychoanalyst, author, artist and playwright/librettist. He made seminal contributions in the area of cross-cultural psychology with Asians and Asian Americans, having written three books on the subject.

Dr. Roland was an accomplished artist, regularly exhibiting watercolors, intaglio prints and conte crayon drawings in venues around the country. You can find samples from his portfolio in the gallery section. Following this theme, he also wrote a book on drama, creativity and the artist.

In addition to visual art, he wrote  a music theater work with dance, a historical play entitled Flight of the Ibis, which has been performed live in front of an audience. He also wrote an opera-oratorio libretto, War of the Sons of Light, in collaboration with the composer, Ami Maayani.
